What my online Portfolio says about me (Person/Learner)
I can infer what other people would think of me as a learner and a
person just by looking at my Portfolio. My portfolio shows my best written
pieces of work from each class, a little bit about every class and some like English
show the books I have read this year. Also, my Portfolio shows how I am
passionate about certain subjects, and how other subjects aren’t as interesting
for me. They would see my incredible passion for S.S., and how I do my best to
learn and understand it. One could also point out my lack of interest in
subjects like Spanish, and health (Of course I am interested in all classes but
not so much in some and in others). I am very passionate about Hunting, MUN,
and various other activities. Finally, one would find a complete autobiography
I made about my life. Viewers would see how I am as a person, and as a learner.

My name is Pedro Juan Mesa, I Am a Colombian 14 year old teen. I like doing many things such as hunting, fishing, reading, playing video games, even writing short stories on my free time. I love sports mostly watching them. I also love to hard work, and to watch movies. When I grow up I want to attend a good university and hopefully work as a Successful stock broker.

has their strengths, weaknesses, and hobbies. I believe that is rare to be born
with a talent, I Believe one has to work hard to aquire a skill or a talent. One
of the talents I have and that I’ve been developing throughout the years is Hunting.
Hunting is one of the things that I enjoy doing in life. When I hunt I feel
truly alive, It makes me think, plan, stalk,and be prepared at any moment. It
is a passion that was passed to me because of my dad and I practice when I can.
These are the reasons why I am choosing to show this passion that I have in my
Portafolio.
Re-Writing Old Work
Some time ago, we had
the opportunity to do a great piece of work; our PSA’s, and I did my PSA with
great dedication and thinking. My PSA it was made of some great paragraphs on a
delicate subject; Sweat Shops. When Ms Shawn told us that we should re-write a
piece of work we had done earlier in the year, At first I did not know what to
do but finally I decided to do it about my PSA rough draft.
3 Best
Works This Year
In some
classes the work I do turns out better than in other classes, I am always trying my best to do a amazing job
in each work I get assigned. I was assigned by Ms. Shawn to select three of my
best works this year. After thinking this through These were the 3 things I chose:
English Myth, Social Studies Videos, and my English video on math. Each of
those works I’ve done are the best from this year. In that moment I gave my
best effort to each one of these assignments.
The 3 pieces of work I did are considered the best not only for
me, but for the classmates which I worked with congratulated me on the job. I
decided to put the S.S. Video on Greece with Mr. Deighton. Then, the video done
for English class based on probability was also a great work I did. In all of
these assignments I got mentally prepared, and started working. When I finally
got to an end, I was sure I would get a 4, and in most of them I did. Finally
the Myth about middle school for English was also a good work. Those 3 works
are the most appreciated by me.
I also try my best to get a great grade, and show my work to the
fullest. In the first one, the S.S. Video on Greece, I did it in a long time,
and with lots of creativity and thinking. It ended up being several fun,
historical scenes, and I felt proud of myself (even though I sort of felt
ashamed when presenting). Then my Myth of Middle school, I created a lot of
cool interesting chapters which were a bit violent but extremely funny (dark
humor) and my friends enjoyed it a lot. To finally end up the works, in the English/Math
video project on probability I really wanted to show my ability to make videos
to Ms. Shawn, and I did it and the class laughed and it had some pretty good
video editing behind it. I believe I put all of my effort in those 3
assignments, and I feel very proud of it.
True/Good Learning+How did I change this year as a Learner
1. True Learning
For me, real learning has many different meanings. . There are many different ways in which a student has the ability to comprehend what the teacher is trying to teach, even though some techniques appear to be more efficient than others. However, there are still people who aren’t able to learn. . In my opinion, the mind has to pass through several steps before it actually learn something. You may be able to understand something in one or two steps of learning, but to actually comprehend and use what you have been taught you have to pass through some steps Ms. Shawn has been doing this all year long to us using the method of blooms taxonomy.
Ms. Shawn teaches us the steps for good learning based on blooms taxonomy are: KNOWING, UNDERSTANDING, APPLYING, ANALYZING, CREATING, AND EVALUATING. In each step that you go through (has to be in order), you are taking the learning to a higher level. What’s more, the learning abilities go so high that the learning is ‘printed’ inside your head. Therefore, the learning is actually learning, not ‘knowing for the day of the exam’ learning. That, in my opinion, is not good learning but effecient, smart, and true learning.
2. How did I change this year as a Learner (Must Read)
Throughout 2011-2012 School Year I have grown as a person and a learner, Learning has
taught me that you can learn from everything your mistakes, your successes and even others
mistakes. Throughout the school year I have recieved valuable information that will not be
usefull just now but it will be for the rest of our lives. This year, we had 2 foreign teachers
one being our Pre-Ap English Teacher Ms. Shawn. 8th Grade Started out hard but it got
easier as the days went by, we made ourselves the person we are by not shaping into the
enviorment but by shaping with it and around it. Some Teachers like Ms. Shawntell had a
great classroom enviorment which encouraged us to use technology in positive ways
that encourage practical true learning.
Everyone enjoyed it quite a lot, and saw how they could portray their being through
technolog and how they could work with other classmates to achieve a common goal. I
believe that I've changed, becoming a person I never knew I could be. Developing All
possible traits and qualities slowly to be better to try to be best at a pace. I have throughly
enjoyed growing as a person and as a learner with my school CNG.

2 Hobbies about me
1. Hunting
I have enjoyed hunting since i was 9 years old, I have been in bird hunts and in ground animal hunts.
I recently went to argentina and had a blast. I´ve been to Argentina and South Africa for hunts.I´ve hunted 3 times in Colombia and I have enjoyed all of my hunts.
2. Tennis
I have enjoyed tennis since 2008 and I really like it. I play at America Tennis Club twice a week. I´m kind of an amateur as all of the people I know have been there since they were kids; however i find it to be challenging and fun and I really like it.
How does working in groups help you build
your knowledge.
Working in groups
encourages you to first assign everyone a subject then you can have
professionals in every subject.
Then all the professionals teach you how to do it in ways they found easy, this helps save time.
In Groups people can
also work a lot in less time and when everyone already knows what something is
about everyone can work in the project or assignment achieving more than what
one person could do alone. If everyone
can be working at the same time it is even better as more work can be achieved
in a certain period of time; on the other hand, if everyone is working at different
timings if someone can’t work at a certain time his partner might be working on
it at the moment, saving time.
Working in groups is
usually fun unless all the work falls on you (unfair), this encourages people to work more and come up
with creative ways to present or create this project or assignment.
I Need an Upgrade because I got good grades on everything but forgot to put picture of cheat sheet on Blog.
For all future problems i will avoid this by listening better.

If I were a God what power would I have?
I would have the power to do anything or get anything i want when i wanted. Like the green lantern with the mind, imagine anything and becomes matter. I could do anything i want and i could modify or fix anything that annoys me. If i miss anything i can make it exist, if I miss the time when i did not have my powers I can make them dissapear and appear whenever i wanted to do so. If a friend needs help, he gets it. If i dont now something I know it now. The power would be infinite, unlimited and perfect.
The Worst Audience Behavior is...?
Giving precepts to other audience members about the presentation. Besides including talking during the presentation (which disctracts other audience members and even the actors and other people in the stage) it also damages the style and the image the movie or presentation want to give to you. It damages the things you could interpret or learn. If they don't now something or don't understand it they should not talk about it. Ask a question or learn about it This is something a"troll" would do. People who do that are arrogant, not smart and annoying. This is rude, it causes distraction and it ruins the purpose and intention of the whole presentation.
Typical Problems Found in Middle Schools
Cafeteria Food
Around The world cafeteria food in schools might be a problem for many kids, while it might be good for some
Kids. Apart from that cafeteria food is produced massively and in general it is not as good as kids are used to eat.
In the specific case of our school i think the food in our cafeteria is very very good. I dont eat there anymore but because id rather spend 50 minutes with my friends than 10 in recess instead i eat home.
